The October 21 Meeting

The second meeting of the Regina Philatelic Club in October was well attended. 20 members plus a guest attended the meeting in person and one member dialed in via the ZOOM link.

President Ian Y. opened the meeting at 7:30 pm by greeting all present and asked if anyone has obtained a good deal at the Coin and Stamp Show this past weekend. Several members showed off their treasures…

My impression of the Mark S. presentation was pointing out that involvement with stamps may be rewarding, but there is more to it, the background behind issuing the stamps, and the reasons commemorated by the stamps.

Mark S. then started his 30 minute presentation “Look Past the Stamps – The Royal Visit 1939”, which was very interesting and had a lot information about the world in the years before the royal visit. It was followed by a “Show and Tell” session where some members added trivial incidents about relatives involved in the Royal Visit 1939 proceedings. Several relevant postal history items were also circulated around the table.

More than a dozen items were available for the auction. The meeting adjourned at 8:30 pm.
