With the weather turning colder we are reminded that winter, and Christmas, are not far off. The next step is likely going to be thoughts of things to do in the first few month of 2025. Begrudgingly accepting that the snow-shoveling chores are unavoidable, we may turn to thinking about some more entertaining hobbies and activities.
I would like to think that it may come as a pleasant news to the readers of this website to know that the members of the Regina Philatelic Club are already preparing for the Stamp and Coin Show, annually presented to the public on the third weekend of February. In 2025, the dates work out to the 15th and 16th. The location is the same as for several past show – the Regina Senior Citizens Centre at 2134 Winnipeg Street, Regina, SK. Admissions are also unchanged, single day ticket for $3 per adult and a two-day pass for $5. To allow sufficient time to browse through the merchandise offered by the stamp and coin dealers from Western Canada, it may be advisable to keep in mind that the doors open at 10 am both days, while the closing time is scheduled for 5 pm on Saturday and 4 pm on Sunday.
For people sufficiently ambitious that they would consider taking advantage of the opportunity to display some of their stamp collections at the 2025 Stamp and Coin Show, there is still time to prepare an entertaining, interesting and surprising display. All it takes is the desire to exhibit the unique contents in your stamp accumulation plus a modest Regina Philatelic Club membership due.
Mark your calendar to attend Regina Philatelic Club’s 2025 Stamp and Coin Show. See you all there…

does this group buy stamps? I have an old collection that appears to be the first stamps of Canada ?

Hi Vicki, Happy New Year! Yes, there will be dealers in attendance who buy collections for their stock. You might want to bring your collection (or the best bits if it’s bulky) to have someone check it out. But value and saleability really depends on the condition of the collection and what’s in it. Not all old stamps are worth much; even really old stamps can be very common. You might want to look at a Unitrade catalogue at the library to get a sense of what you have, especially the introduction where they talk about condition. Good luck!

PS – There’s an article on the site that goes into valuing a collection in much more depth: https://reginastampclub.ca/2020/03/04/stamp-collections-and-estates/

Hi Vicki:
If you would like to contact someone prior to the show in February, there is a local dealer in Regina who might be interested in checking out your collection. His name is Brian Best, and his contact is: [email protected]
He will also be in attendance at the show.
